I have been a fan of Netflix since its start. Since the start of lockdown, I have subscribed to more platforms, as I didn’t know how to fill our days. I thought it was the best time to watch the movies and programs that saved in ‘watch later’. But that didn’t happen. Still, 61 programs are waiting to be watched on my list on Netflix.
I can divide my COVID times into two. The very early lockdown days when we were attached to our TV in our apartment in the city. Now, Netflix & DVD’s suddenly have disappeared from our daily lives. I am busy wondering, what’s going on in the world?
Since June, we find ourselves safer and more comfortable in this coastal area, but this time we were mainly outside so the entertainment part of our lives almost stopped. I recently started to explore the world from the home, started checking what’s on Netflix or Mubi.
I must say that I have listened to a lot of music in recent months via Spotify and Apple Music. Bruce Springsteen’s concert is coming up on Apple Music that I’m waiting for this week
Virtual art galleries
Because we were unable to physically visit some museums and galleries, some museum websites have made it possible for people to view their exhibitions. I followed The Museum of Modern Art’s Virtual View series as part of the museum-from-home special program. Journeys of Abstraction was a good one I remember.
I took a virtual tour of Frıda Kahlo’s House in Casa Azul. I really liked Rijksstudio where you can dive into the collection where you can curate your own exhibition. In addition, I like classical music and we were lucky that many orchestras offered online concerts such as the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Digital Concert Hall.
YouTube has become the channel I watched the most. There are a variety of interesting programs, from music to documentary. I watched Christian Dior Designer of Dreams at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs this morning. I recommend it to you if you like fashion.
I am sure when we go back to Istanbul we would do binge watching again. I fed up with all of the COVID news now. There is a classic British TV comedy that we want to watch again, Only Fools and Horses. It still brings us joy after all these years and I think we deserved a good laugh now.
