A stressful week that somehow flew by for Gul

This week has passed very quickly. It was a very stressful few days especially watching the news. We have glued to the earthquake coverage, then to the US election. A three-year-old girl has been pulled from the rubble 92 hours after the earthquake hit Izmir. We were happy to see her face then very sad that her mother didn't survive.
I don’t understand how quickly we forget the sad news, like earthquakes, how quickly we return to daily life.
WINTER SUN
We’re lucky that the days are still full of sunshine but evenings are cooler. We spend our time walking by the sea. There are 14 flamingoes, we check every day what they are doing. Also, we see the neighbors a lot, get to know one another, and have coffee with them.
I like cutting roses and put them into a vase. They look amazing. The garden is warmer than the house itself these days. We have bought three electric heaters for winter, hopefully, we’ll be fine. We heard that between 15 Dec-15 Jan is the coldest month on this coast. An adventure awaits us!
FIGHTING COVID OR NOT
Turkey is wasting time implementing necessary measures to fight COVID-19. Restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, barbers, and cinemas will have to close at 10 pm. Useless decision as always. Who would go to a barber after 10 pm? The Health Minister advised not to leave Istanbul to avoid spreading the virus. They won’t be going far enough. The new cases are increasing at the highest level since April. We don’t even know what the real situation is, we can’t get the right figures from the government.
Doctors and opposition parties have asked the government to do more to control the virus but Ankara denies it. They accused the government of prioritizing the economy over public health and they’re right. Every day, we lose doctors and other healthcare professionals. More than 100 healthcare workers have already died and almost 45,000 have been infected with the virus.
Istanbul is the worst. It is terrible that the ruling party AKP held a convention today. The congress was very crowded and corona measures were not followed. A fish rots from the head down.
