Deep sadness in Western Australia as Espe loses her mum

Hi Everyone


I'm sorry for not posting for a few weeks...I've been super busy at work and it's all been a bit much.


Big news here in Western Australia is that our hard borders came down today and we can now travel interstate. There are a few restrictions but it looks like the whole of Australia will be opened up by Christmas. Victoria has now gone 2 weeks without a single new case and it looks like they have beaten their second wave.


I can only look on in shock around the world, especially in the US and UK at how they are going. Especially important to me as I have loved ones in both countries.


2020 really is the year that keeps on taking. Last night my Mother in Law passed away. She was a lovely lady who only ever treated me with love and kindness. My wife, Espe, who was posting on here before me, is devastated as is the whole family.


I'm ready for 2021, enough is enough now

Week 18 - in Turkey we find Gul reflecting on family and the irretrievable nature of time

In old times, the Bayram – that’s what we call for religious festivals- meant visiting family elderly relatives & neighbors, then recent years, going on holidays, and now, is neither family visits nor holidays. Thanks to the COVID-19.    We’re on the second day of the Feast of the Sacrifice. There are more people at this Aegean Coast as people came to their parent’s summerhouses instead of going to holiday. You see the smile on older people’s face and gardens full of laughter and fun.    This time last year, we were at the same coast but everything changed in this one year. Week 21 - The weekend starts here as Simon checks in from the future

This time last year we all felt like it was the end of the world.  Luckily a reliable vaccine was found in early January and distributed around the world to everyone in record time thanks to a combined effort from every country around the world. After a few months most places returned to a new normal and everyone started to rebuild the damage COVID-19 had wrought across the globe.    Amazingly the worldwide distribution of a free vaccine for all was just the beginning of a major shift in the way countries dealt with each other.    Profits, share dividends and the exploitation of billions of people soon took a backseat to fair wages, free childcare and a raft of legislation to protect the environment.
