Week 33 - Testing times around England as the weather turns to winter

Eat Sleep Rave Repeat! Eat Sleep Rave Repeat! Eat Sleep Rave Repeat! or in the case of lockdown,

Eat (rather a lot of junk food cos we are bored),

Sleep (questionable with a one-year-old who doesn’t know the meaning of sleeping for more than 3 hours at a time),

Rave (not counted as one of your daily forms exercises),

Repeat (until who knows when)!

Lockdown 2, as with all sequels is never as good as the first. We did one Zoom chat with friends this week but the novelty has worn off, the clapping for the NHS which we did at 8 pm every Thursday finished a long time ago so we have nothing to look forward to.

Our one daily walk is getting harder as the weather has been awful this week with lots of rain so the park is really muddy. And we still go to the supermarket for “fun” as there is nothing else to do. Hopefully, the weather for this week will pick up.

Speaking to the family daily goes like this.

How are you? Same as yesterday!

Did you go out today? To the park/shop!

What about you? Same!

We aren’t doing anything so we have nothing to say. We are skirting around the subject of Christmas and instead of it being plans to whose house we will visit and on what days, it’s now talk about ordering presents online and getting it sent directly to their house in case we don’t get to see them at all. There is only going to be one winner this Christmas and it will be Amazon and the delivery companies!!

Liverpool, where my family lives, is still doing the trial where they want as many people with no Covid symptoms to get tested as many times as they can over the testing period.

My parents have been to the test center twice and have had negative results both times. The second time they went the tester told them that over 500 people so far (in the first week and a half) had tested positive who were asymptotic.

This shows how easily COVID is getting spread! The tests are getting better as they now get their results within an hour.

There is news of a vaccine created by a Belgium company, which will offer 90% protection.

Obviously, this has yet to be tested but I’ve just read on the BBC News that they are starting trials on 6, 000 people in the UK this week, so only time will tell!

Anyway as always, stay safe. X
