Week 34 - What's on your mind, Simon?

 What’s on my mind? Anger.

Anger at this Pandemic and the damage it has done and the damage it is yet to do. All the people that have become infected and died, many of whom could have been saved if only governments had acted sooner and more decisively to lock down and make the hard decisions. And anger at all the people who refused to take the necessary precautions and infected others.

Anger at the massive profits made by companies such as Amazon and Facebook at this time. Seems like a Pandemic is the next best thing to war for making a ton of money.

Anger at this stupid obsession with celebrities and what they are wearing and whom they are sleeping with. Who bloody cares? Billions of people suffering from poverty, famine, and homelessness and that’s what’s important is it?

Anger at the obscene amount of money made by companies, banks, and individuals, many of which pay little or no tax due to a few clever lawyers and accountants. Meanwhile, when I do a little overtime the Government happily takes 40%.

Anger at the vast unfairness of it all that there is easily enough land, food, resources, and money for all and yet most live with only enough for their basic needs and many try and survive with an awful lot less. Meanwhile, the richest individuals and companies sit on billions and billions of dollars and still want more. Always more.

Anger at the fact that although this Pandemic has shown that many people are willing to help others out and do the right thing, in the end, it won’t matter. Millions of people will still die and when it is finally over and the world has been vaccinated it will be back to business as usual.

The poor getting poorer, the rich getting richer, everyone in the middle staring at their 65” TV screens and watching the news it has been decided they watch and choosing which of the 200 channels of garbage they will ingest that evening.

Meanwhile outside the Earth is being ravaged by climate change, war, and disease.  So yes, anger is on my mind.
