What a beautiful week in Texas.
Coming off of Snowmageddon 2021 and the pandemic, it seems like things have gotten back to normal.
Sunshine, people everywhere, restaurants packed, the mask mandate gone, this is it!!! Or is it?
You know they call this weather False Spring or Fool’s Spring.
An early period of beautiful weather at the end of winter that tricks the plants into early bloom.
It pulls the animals out of hibernation, puts the winter coats in storage, people put the short-shorts back on.
Are we fools like the plants to buy into this spell of perfectness?
Are we blooming too soon? We are begging to get back to a sense of normalcy.
As a family man and business owner of a small restaurant, I am no different than millions of people trying to make it in today’s world.
My fatherly instinct wants to hold my children tight, shelter them in place, and keep them away from the virus that has changed our everyday being.
At the same time, this fatherly instinct wants to set my children free to live as they always have, as they deserve to, just like the childhood I enjoyed.
The business owner in me feels the same for my employees. Keep them safe, and keep them sheltered. Keep them working, keep them paid, and keep them fed. It’s a nonstop conundrum that keeps me awake at night often.
The one thing I can’t do is stop. I was given the opportunity to live a good life.
I was afforded the opportunity to become a business owner. I was gifted the chance to grow up in a great state and city. So many others don’t have this choice or chance.
The least I can do is to help make it one step easier for those around me to find their path.
Normalcy or not, pandemic or not, we must continue to bloom. We must continue to help others bloom. Don’t wilt, don’t hibernate, and don’t wither away.
